About The App Audit

The App Audit is an independent publication that reviews apps the way real people use them. We test rigorously, rate transparently, and publish honest, in-depth guidance so you can find apps worth your time — across the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Our mission

There are millions of apps and almost no trustworthy way to tell the good from the forgettable. App-store rankings reward marketing budgets; sponsored “top 10” lists reward whoever paid the most. We started The App Audit to do the opposite: hands-on reviews and carefully curated best-of lists built on testing, not press releases.

Editorial independence

Our recommendations reflect our testing and our judgement — nothing else. Where a page carries advertising or a sponsorship, it is clearly labelled and it never influences a score, a ranking, or whether an app is covered. We keep pricing descriptions general and focus on whether an app earns its place. If we ever get something wrong, we correct it and note the change.

App developer by day, reviewer by night. I care about performance, design, and whether an app respects your time.

  • Jordan Lee

Writer covering the apps we talk to each other with. I weigh privacy, design, and real-world usability over hype.

  • Marcus Bell

    Senior Editor, Personal Finance

  • Naomi Clarke

    Senior Editor, Entertainment & Streaming

Culture writer who has reviewed streaming services since the DVD-by-mail days. I care about catalogue depth, price, and whether an app respects your time.

  • Priya Raman

    Senior Editor, Health & Fitness

Certified personal trainer turned tech writer. I test fitness and wellness apps the way real people use them — on early mornings, off days, and everything between.

  • Sarah Mitchell

    Senior Editor, Kids & Family

Former early childhood educator turned tech writer. I review kids' apps so you don't have to download 50 to find one good one. Mum of two.
