Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information The App Audit collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be transparent about the rest.

Who we are
The App Audit (“we”, “us”) operates theappaudit.com, an independent app-review publication. This policy applies to the website and the services offered through it. It is provided for general information and is not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we store your display name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive basic profile details from that provider.
- Comments and contributions. When you post a comment, we store its content, the time it was submitted, and its association with your account.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address and subscription status.
- Messages you send us. When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message so we can respond.
- Usage data. We collect limited, privacy-friendly analytics about how pages are used (such as page views and referring sites) to improve the site. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to function — for example, to keep you signed in. For measurement we use a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not track you across other websites and does not rely on invasive third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect sign-in and other features.
Email and the newsletter
Transactional emails (such as sign-in and account notifications) and our newsletter are delivered through our email provider, Resend. Your email address is shared with that provider solely to deliver these messages. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
How we use your information
- To operate your account and keep it secure.
- To publish and moderate comments.
- To send you emails you’ve asked for and respond to your messages.
- To understand and improve how the site is used.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site (for example, our hosting, database, and email providers), and only as needed to deliver those services. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can update or delete your account from your account settings, or contact us to make a request. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.
Children’s privacy
The App Audit is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
